UNI is seeking a new Counseling Center Director to provide leadership, vision and oversight of services provided by the IACS accredited Counseling Center. The Director will report to the Executive Director of Health and Recreation Services, and guide the counseling staff in a team approach to strategic planning, development, and implementation of student mental health services and initiatives; lead the process to maintain accreditation; direct mental health testing services; and advance continuous improvement and incorporation of national best practices to ensure highly effective, developmentally appropriate interventions and prevention efforts designed to engage students, faculty, and staff in meaningful and lasting education around issues of mental health.
Additionally, the Director will provide professional guidance on difficult client issues, conduct performance evaluations and support professional development plans for staff. The Director works collaboratively across the University and is a mental health consultant to the campus community and provides perspective from the Counseling Center to senior leadership for purposes of strategic planning, optimal resource utilization, and quality improvement.
- Doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology.
- At least five years of recent clinical experience with at least three years in a university counseling center.
- A current Iowa license or ability to attain a license within one year of hire.
Other desirable qualifications include an appreciation for diverse student populations, familiarity with assessment, group counseling development, outreach, adult programs, expertise in crisis management, and affinity for working in an interdisciplinary team.
